A very Present Help In Trouble
cripture Reading: “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” (Psalms 46:10)
Monday was not a very good day for me personally. If there was ever a day when everything that could possibly go wrong would, that day was it. It was just one of those days that I wanted to be over before it ever really got started!
Ever been there?
By the time I got past the halfway Mark of the day, my shoulders were tight, and hard as stone, from the tension; and I literally felt like my head was gonna explode.
That’s how stressed I was.
As I started to go into another set of tasks, I just felt depleted of any strength to even begin; and I sighed out to the Lord just how I “felt”.
Not long afterwards, I was reminded of a verse I’d heard on the radio that same morning; and it’s the verse that I shared at the beginning of this devotional.
Somehow, meditating on that truth actually brought comfort and relief to my mind, as well as a fresh resolve to complete the tasks that were before me.
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in the time of trouble…”
I’ve known people who have endured great troubles in this life, and having someone “there”, just being present, has always been a help to them.
And for me, to realize that I wasn’t alone (because God was there all along), in the time of what seemed like many troubles for me, did wonders for my soul, and gave me strength to go on.
That’s the value and benefit of God’s word to us. We can find comfort and strength in what He’s spoken to us through His word; and the scriptures themselves testify of such.
“For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.” (Romans 15:4)
May we all continue to learn of Him, and always find comfort, hope, and Strength in Him, and in His word.
Peace and Blessings in the Name of Our Lord,
Pastor Lowe
