Scripture Reading: "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one." (Ezekiel 22:30) A couple of mornings ago I was praying about all of the conflict and unrest that is presently being experienced in our country. I was honestly praying more for wisdom and understanding than anything else. The reason why was because the evils attached to most of this had actually hit home. When I say "hit home", I mean those dear to me.While praying for a better understanding and clarity regarding the issue, my mind was quickened to the verse above. The book of Ezekiel is pretty old; but at the time of this writing he found himself addressing a people, that, though they were taken captive, still didn't seem to get it right. In the land, there was much going on that wasn't right in the eyes of God. Verse 29 of the same chapter says, "The people of the land have used oppression, and exercised robbery, and have vexed the poor and needy: yea, they have oppressed the stranger wrongfully." As I read those verses I couldn't help but think about our country. Don't get me wrong, I think this country is one of the greatest in the world, and I wouldn't ever consider living anywhere else; but, we've had more than our share of challenges, and the days in which we are living isn't any different, overall, than in times past. Yet, God is a very patient and Merciful Person; and I personally believe that restoration, healing, and redemption is always at the forefront of His Heart and Mind for any people. What was needed in Ezekiel's day is what we need more than ever in our own times; men and women who Stand "before God" on the behalf of the land. If He were to look today, do you believe that He would find Just One? Better yet, will "you" be the one? Lord, it's only by your strength that we can do anything. Make us willing, and grant that we answer to your call to stand before you on the behalf of our land! May God's Grace Continue to Be with us all, Pastor Lowe
