Abiding In The Father’s Care

And he said, “A certain man had two sons:and the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living”. – Luke 15:11-12

Recently, my wife and I had been helping my youngest son out with financial counsel and guidance. Our helping him required us having oversight, and input, into where the money should go, and where it shouldn’t go.
It was challenging for him to allow us to do it, to say the least.
Last week, he decided that he didn’t need our help anymore and insisted that he was well capable of handling his own finances. So, without any argument or resistance, we kindly obliged.
Yet that very situation had me thinking about the prodigal son, who one day, for reasons unknown to me, up and decided that he wanted what rightly belonged to him, and left home.
I thought about “what” he left “when” he left; and if you read further into the story, he quotes it right out of his own mouth; “how many of My Father’s hired servants have bread enough, and to spare, and I suffer hunger.”
When he left home, he left the provision of His Father. But not only did he leave the provision of his Father, he also left the protection of his Father and made himself vulnerable to many dangers.
I believe that the same can happen to us believers when we try to go at life alone, instead of Abiding In The Father’s Loving Care. Under His Roof there is safety and Protection.
Psalms 91, in the amplified version, says, “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High Will remain secure and rest in the shadow of the Almighty [whose power no enemy can withstand]”.

Father, help us to daily abide and trust in your Care.
May God Bless You And Keep You,Pastor Lowe
