Casting Your Care Upon Him
“Casting all your cares [all your anxieties, all your worries, and all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares about you [with deepest affection, and watches over you very carefully].” 1st Peter 5:7
This morning, when I awoke, this particular verse was on my mind. It has long been one of my favorite verses of scripture; and I believe it’s been one of my favorite because of the simplicity of the charge (casting all our care), and the certainty of the truth (He careth for you).
Though the charge is a simple one, it’s not always so easy for us to cast everything upon The Lord, as He encourages us to do; and the amplified rendering makes the task all the more challenging. It says, “once and for all”. That means, when we give it to God, don’t take it back. Be done with it, and trust that He will do more good with what’s been handed to Him than we could ever imagine.
I think this verse was on my mind this morning as a small reminder, that, though there is much that we have in this hour to be concerned about, and much to be tempted to worry about, There is one Who is far more capable of seeing to the affairs that govern my life than I am; and all He asks is that I trust Him enough to give it all (and the last I checked, “all” means “all”, “all” the time) to Him.
It’s a challenge, as I said before. But, when I consider the truth about His care for me, it becomes a lot less difficult to give Him everything.
The remainder of the verse says, ” He cares about you [with deepest affection, and watches over you very carefully]”; and to me that says, that, His love for me is so intimate and deep that He “wants” to be fully acquainted with every detail that concerns my life. God wants to be involved with everything that we’re concerned about; He wants to help us in everything we’re going through; and He wants to hold our hand every step of the way.
That’s what that verse says to me.
If you’re going through anything difficult, as we all oftentimes do, I pray that you take comfort in knowing that God will be with you every step of the way, helping you to get through whatever the challenge may be.
We have His promise…. In Isaiah, He says, “When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.” (Isaiah 43:2)
You and I have the greatest support system in this world with the Father holding our hand.
Lord, today we simply want to say Thank You for your never ending Love and Care for us, and your promise to be with us.
In Christ,
Pastor Lowe
