“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord.“For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways And My thoughts higher than your thoughts. – Isaiah 55:8-9
Recently, I was praying about a particular situation for someone dear to me.
I believed that I was sincere in my petition to The Lord, so I simply voiced every desire and expectation that I had regarding this circumstance.
In other words, I was letting my requests “be made known unto God”, like His word says we should.
Yet, in the process of praying, there was one request that made me strongly reconsider every other request that I’d made.
The request? It was simply, “Lord Help Us…”
After voicing that one request, I realized that God’s way of “helping” could be something totally different from everything that I had already voiced and requested.
What I thought was “Help” was merely a bandaid on the wound. But God’s means of “help” would bring healing, and so much more.
I came to understand, that, what I “think” they need, and what He “Knows” they need, could oftentimes be completely opposite.
Jesus said, “What man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?” (Matt. 7:9)
But sometimes, I believe we’re guilty of asking for the stone when it’s His hearts’ desire to give us bread; and I believe it’s largely due to our limited perspective.
God’s ways are higher (and better).
I will keep that in mind when I pray.
Father, help us to rest in the fact that Your ways are Higher, and because of such, you know what’s best….
Thank You for Your Mercy…
In Christ’s Love,
