And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to Thee. Holy Father, keep through Thine own name those whom Thou hast given Me, that they may be one, as We are. While I was with them in the world, I kept them in Thy name. Those that Thou gavest Me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition, that the Scripture might be fulfilled. – (John 17:11-12)
The above verses elaborate a bit on one of the last recorded prayers of Jesus, to The Father, on the behalf of His disciples prior to His departure from the earth.
He knew that He would no longer physically be with them to guide them, teach them, or encourage them.
He also knew, that, prior to His departing, He would endure some very great hardship at the hands of men that would prove to be a difficult testing of their own faith….
And…. He “knew” that there would be no way possible for them to walk through this life without being Kept By The Father…..
Today, I am so greatful That Our Lord prayed that prayer, because He didn’t just pray it for them…
He prayed it for us also, and anyone who would Respond to the call to Believe on Him (vs. 20), because He Knew that we would need to be Kept.
As I write this, I am more convinced than ever before that our Father in Heaven is a Keeper Like no other; and my prayer is that, no matter what any of us have to face in this life, that we be Continually Kept By Him…
Lord, we Love You and Appreciate You for Your Faithfulness and Neverending Goodness towards us. We simply ask that You would Help us to Rest peacefully, and confidently, in Your Keeping Power….
“Now unto Him that is able to Keep You from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy.”
In The Peace Of Our Great God and Savior Jesus Christ,
