Give It To God

“casting all your cares [all your anxieties, all your worries, and all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares about you [with deepest affection, and watches over you very carefully].” – (1 Peter 5:7 AMP)

During our prayer hour this morning I made a request of the Lord that was totally unconscious…. It was simply this: “Lord Help me to give you the things that bother me?”

At that moment, I was being troubled and bothered by many things, and I just couldn’t seem to be free of the anxiety that comes from worrying.

So I asked for God’s help…

The late Prince of Preachers,  Charles H. Spurgeon, once said, that “most burdens require two hands to cast upon God; the hand of Prayer, and the hand of faith. Prayer tells God what the care is, and asks God to help, while faith believes that God can and will do it.”

That thought reminded me of Hezekiah in the time that he was confronted with threats of trouble from a “real” enemy (or problem).

According to scripture (see 2 Kings 19:14), Hezekiah received a letter of doom,  Read it, “went up into the House of The Lord, and spread it before The Lord.”

Next verse begins, “And Hezekiah prayed before The Lord….”

What Hezekiah did in his time of anxiety was a classic example of what it truly means to “Give It To The Lord…”.

My Grandmother used to say “Give It To The Lord, and Leave It There…”; and our focus text encourages the same when it says “once and for all…”

Today, no matter what the worry or care, you and I can Give It To God.
He Invites us to do so…

Father, we thank You for your love and Faithfulness “toward us”, and we alsoThank You for your care “For us”. Help us to know your heart, and in doing so, help us to willingly Give You everything that concerns us….

In Christ’s Love,
Pastor Lowe
