Maintain The Posture Of The Poor

“Blessed are the poor in spirit: for their’s is the kingdom of heaven.”
‭‭(Matthew‬ ‭5:3‬ ‭KJV‬‬)

Recently I’ve begun a new journey again through the Gospels.

My goal and desire was to seek a Deeper and Fresher Look at the Life of our Savior and the things that He spoke.

Every word that He ever spoke, and does speak, is truly profound and worthy of our utmost attention.

My most recent reading is currently in The Gospel of Matthew at what is commonly known as “The Beatitudes”.

When I think about the word “Beatitude” I always formulate the thought in my mind that says this is what my “attitude should Be”.

The very first Beatitude is foundational, and it’s an attitude and posture that will take us a very long way in the matter of spiritual things if we “maintain it” always.

The Lord said, “Blessed are The Poor in Spirit”…. When I would read that in times past I would always have a picture of Literal poverty in my minds’ eye.

But I’ve since discovered that the poor in spirit are those who cry out for God’s help, depend entirely upon Him to meet their needs, and have a humble and contrite spirit.

In fact, God says He makes His dwelling with those that are of a contrite and Humble spirit. (See Isa. 57:15)

Where is Your Heart’s Posture today?
Are You totally dependent upon God and His Provision/Strength alone?
Do you Cry out to Him and trust in His help alone?

If yes, maintain that posture….

The Posture of The Poor (in spirit) means that we’re blessed, and the Kingdom is ours…

Lord, grant that we never become independent of Your Mercy and Help and always look to you for whatever we need in this life.
In Jesus Name,
Amen

Mercy and Peace Be Yours In Christ Jesus,

Pastor Lowe
