Better Than You Think
“Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,”- Ephesians 3:20
Last week in my devotional hour I was reading about the beginnings of the Life of Moses, when he was only a baby.
If you’re familiar with the story in Exodus, you know that Pharoah had actually given a charge to his people to kill every male born to The children of Israel (see Ex. 1:16, 22)
So, when Moses was born, his mother hid him for the first 3 months of his life when she saw that he was a goodly child (healthy and beautiful), to protect him.
But she eventually had to “let him go” because she could no longer hide him.
The way I saw it is that she “released” him into the hands of God, and what God did afterwards was probably far, far better than anything she might have “Thought or imagined”!
After putting Moses in a basket, his mother set him among reeds that grew in the water, and somewhere around the same time, Pharaoh’s daughter Just “happened” to go bathe in the river in sight of the basket.
Pharaoh’s daughter had her servants then go fetch the basket, and she saw that it was one of the Hebrews’ children.
Moses’ sister saw what happened and offered to go get one of the Hebrew women to nurse the child.
The woman she went to go get just so “happened” to be the Mother of Moses.
Not only did God reunite Moses with his own Mother, but He also rendered compensation for her to do what she would’ve done ANYWAY!…. (See Ex. 2:9)
She couldn’t have asked for a better Outcome, or even “Thought” it….
What I learned from this story was, that, no matter how dire the circumstance may be, God is fully capable of turning it around for the good and bringing about a result that is always Much Better Than I can Think.
That kind of God is always worthy of our utmost trust.
Father help us to fully trust in your ability alone….
