SUNDAY WORSHIP 11:00 AM - Medical Center Baptist Church - 7015 Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78240

Are You Listening?

“So Eli said to Samuel, “Go, lie down, and it shall be that if He calls you, you shall say, ‘Speak, Lord, for Your servant is listening.’” So Samuel went and lay down in his place. – (1 Samuel 3:9 AMP)

One of the things that I have noticed with our 3 year old daughter is how she has learned to respond to discipline.

Although the responses have varied at times, there is one response that has stood out to me above all others; and that response is when she says, “Daddy I’m Listening….”

She will say it “right before” I take action (taking away the toy, sending her to bed, putting her in timeout, etc) and that tells me that she is ready to pay attention—if for no other reason than to avoid the consequence.

We are a lot like my daughter…

Sometimes we get so caught up with the hustle and bustle of life that we neglect to be still and pay attention to what God is trying to tell us (He’s always endeavoring to convey His Love to us).

Then, when we are confronted with a whole slew of difficulties and adverse circumstances, we are ready to sit down, seek God, and pay attention, because we need His help.

And that’s okay…

We’re living and we’re learning and Growing…

Each day That The Lord allows us to see is a blessing and extension of His Mercy toward us.

But I also believe that, each day, He desires to “speak to us” personally and convey that Love to us individually.

Even today…..

The question is, Will I take time to Listen…?

Eli told Samuel, “Go (find your quiet place), Lie down (be still from all care), and say Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening…”

We can all do the same, each and every day.

Will You take the time to Listen today?

Lord, please forgive us If we haven’t paid attention to your voice. There’s no excuse. Help us Be Still and listen as You speak.
In Jesus Name, Amen…

May God’s Voice Strengthen Your Heart Today,

Pastor Lowe
